This casual Malaysian cafe dishes up steaming bowls of spicy noodle laksa soup, full flavours and no-frills efficient service. This cheap and cheerful Malaysian grub really hits the spot if you're after a quick bite. Although the service lacks a little warmth, the food will certainly leave you smiling. The decor is fairly sparse in the small two-floor cafe - white lighting and canteen tables leave nothing to distract you from the reason you have travelled to this back street cafe on the edge of Chinatown. Tucked away down a snug alleyway C&R manages to remain busy despite the discreet location - there is a fast turnover of tables and the place can fill up in a flash. The desert menu includes South-East Asian delights such as the wonderfully childish cendol, crushed ice blended with coconut milk and glutinous green jelly worms. It's like something straight out of a Roald Dahl story. The drink selection is long and imaginative but currently unlicensed, so some see C&R as more of a lunch venue. Their sister branch C&R Bayswater has a full wine list and more of an evening restaurant vibe.C & R Cafe Restaurant images
