Opening on 22nd June 2010 as part of the new St Martin's Courtyard development in Covent Garden, Cantina Laredo is a high end Mexican restaurant that aims to do away with the 'Tex Mex' image that has previously been associated with this type of cuisine in the UK. For a start all the food is freshly prepared, using high quality ingredients and accompanied by sauces that are cooked from scratch. Their spicy Mole sauce is one such example - this classic Mexican staple is made using sixteen different ingredients including dried chilli peppers, toasted nuts and cocoa Mexican chocolate. The menu includes enchiladas, tortillas and tacos as well as the signature dish of Camaron Poblano Asada - a hearty classic Mexican poblano pepper filled with a mix of sauteed tiger prawns, mushrooms, onions and cheese and wrapped with a grilled skirt steak on a bed of chimichurri sauce. There's no need to book and seating is available both inside and out, with the al fresco tables overlooking the bustling Upper St Martin's Lane.Cantina Laredo images
