Martin Morales duplicates his successful Soho restaurant Ceviche with a second location launching Ceviche Old St within the historic Alexandra Trust Dining Rooms, built in 1898 by Sir Thomas Lipton, of Lipton's Tea as a place for East London's working class to socialise and dine affordably. Returning to its original function the modern day dining rooms specialise in Ceviche - the national dish of Peru - made from fresh raw fish cured in a combination of citrus juices, spices and chilli. Diners can see the chefs at work making ceviches in front of them when seated at the dedicated ceviche bar within the 70-cover dining room. Street food typical of Lima, barbequed meats and open grill dishes are also served along with 'Pollo a la brasa' - rotisserie chicken cooked in Ceviche's own-recipe marinade. At the separate 60-cover bar area you can also enjoy the full menu, bar snacks, Pisco cocktails and British and Latin American craft beer. Ceviche sparked a healthy appetite for Peruvian food when it first opened in Soho in 2012, followed by Shoreditch's Andina and this restaurant is a welcome addition to the stable. A takeaway menu and local delivery service is also available.
