When Joel Bernstein (ex Liberty) partners up with Walid al Damirji (ex Joseph) and the founder of Agent Provocateur, Serena Rees, to create a bakery you know you're in for a teatime treat and some seriously seductive baked goods. Cocomaya is a bakery where the muffins come with juicy raisins and the cakes are moist like mother used to make them. Located near Marble Arch on Connaught Street - just hard enough to find to be a hidden gem - the Cocomaya bakery opened on 29th October 2009, replacing the existing Cocomaya chocolate shop which relocated to adjoining premises at 3 Porchester Place - so don't worry, you can still get your hands on those divinely decadent chocolate treats. At the bakery, mini cakes, scones and rock cakes are served on a three tier cake stand and scattered with edible, crystallised rose petals. There are more sensible savoury options too and big jugs of water flavoured with cucumber are, thoughtfully, provided for free. A lovely bakery and chocolatier worth making the detour for.Cocomaya images
