Located in the modern development of Bermondsey Square, this branch of Del'Aziz, a Moroccan / Mediterranean cafe-cum-deli, has an unusual feature: a glass floor which gives a window onto the square's history. Under foot is the remains of the walls of an 11th century Bermondsey Abbey, rediscovered during the 2005/6 excavations. Open all day, Del'Aziz provides a tempting menu to eat in or you can take away from the deli side. Whether you're after cakes and pastries, a healthy breakfast, a full-on cooked brunch or a candlelit evening meal with wine, you'll be sure to fine something to your tastes from the extensive and mouth-watering Middle Eastern influenced menu. Big wooden communal tables amongst a permanent display of colourful ingredients and goods make it an ideal place to while away a morning with the papers or drink coffee or mint tea with friends. In the summer you can sit outside, looking out over a nearby church and away from any traffic. Such is the popularity of these restaurants that outlets have opened up in Fulham, Swiss Cottage, Bankside, and Westfield. Takeaway service, office deliveries and outside catering are available.
