Del Aziz, Bermondsey

 

Located in the modern development of Bermondsey Square, this branch of Del'Aziz, a Moroccan / Mediterranean cafe-cum-deli, has an unusual feature: a glass floor which gives a window onto the square's history. Under foot is the remains of the walls of an 11th century Bermondsey Abbey, rediscovered during the 2005/6 excavations. Open all day, Del'Aziz provides a tempting menu to eat in or you can take away from the deli side. Whether you're after cakes and pastries, a healthy breakfast, a full-on cooked brunch or a candlelit evening meal with wine, you'll be sure to fine something to your tastes from the extensive and mouth-watering Middle Eastern influenced menu.
