Following the success of Eggslut in Notting Hill - where they serve over 600 eggs a day - the free range cafe for egg lovers launches a second site, this time in Fitzrovia. Signature dishes on the menu - which is entirely dedicated to eggs - make a return including the Gaucho, with seared wagyu tri-tip steak, and the Fairfax - soft scrambled eggs and chives in a warm Bread Ahead brioche bun . The key to their success is in the quality of the eggs - they only use Clarence Court Burford Browns - and the restaurant has no freezers with all dishes cooked fresh to order for optimum ooziness in the egg sandwiches. The opening comes as we learn that Brits are eating a record numbers of eggs - 6.6 billion eggs in 2019; that's a 50 per cent increase in the last ten years - and Eggslut is here to help. With options like The Slut, made from a coddled egg on top of a smooth potato puree, it's clear to see how founder Alvin Cailan first came up with the idea as a chef meal while working in a two Michelin star restaurant.
