Bringing the best of Spain and Morocco to the heart of Soho, El Cantara aims to transport you to North Africa and Andalucia with its authentic décor and traditional cooking. The ground floor has the feel of a Spanish taverna, complete with warm terracotta walls, oak tables, walnut floors and an enclosed terrace with a glass ceiling. Upstairs there are echoes of Marrakech, with hand-painted wall tiles and polished brass tabled. What's more, there's a private terrace (the only of its kind in Soho) which is open until 1am and where you can smoke shisha in a variety of fruity flavours. Downstairs, you can drink sangria, cocktails and beers in a relaxed, unpretentious Southern Spain-style bar. Authentic Moorish and Spanish spices are used in all the cooking, with a menu that offers the best of both cuisines. Signature dishes include beef tagine with cous cous, paella, gambas al ajillo and other tasty tapas. Throw in some exotic belly dancers and it's a promising set up.
