Fogo

A meat-lovers paradise, Fogo is a Brazilian-themed Churrasco restaurant in Ealing, a short walk from Ealing Broadway tube. "Churrasco" derives from the Spanish and Portuguese words to scorch or singe, and the whole concept of this traditional South American way of cooking centres on a tried-and-tested method of barbequing select cuts of meat over a "fogo", or fire to me and you. The interior of this 100-seat west London restaurant is rather standard chain fare and nothing to write home about, but it's all about the service and the food. On entering, you'll be shown to a table laden with a variety of freshly prepared salads, vegetables, hot breads, cous cous, pittas, dips, chips and rice. Succulent, juicy meat straight from the flame grill will then be brought to your table by a passador who will carve it up with a special sword. Cuts vary day to day and include lamb, chicken, pork, sausages, a variety of steaks, venison, ostrich, liver and other interesting meaty morsels. Best try get a table close to the open kitchen so you'll get a steady supply of meat and a constant fizzle of cooking alongside the mouth-watering aroma. There's a fully licensed bar which serves jugs of sangria along with other beers, wines and cocktails, while if you're still hungry there's a pudding menu with some sweet favourites.
