With their Soho branch now successfully established, Foxcroft & Ginger have brought their sourdough pizzas and homemade cakes to Whitechapel. Situated on Mile End Road, between Whitechapel and Stepney Green tube stations, the artisan café certainly stands out from the crowd of fast food joints and sport shops but will no doubt come as a welcome addition for locals. Passers by simply need to catch a glimpse of the homemade brownies, cakes and croissants spread across the counters to be lured inside and purchase one along with a cup of the high quality coffee made from Has Bean and Caravan beans. The café also serves brunch throughout the day, with an indulgent menu featuring French toast, ricotta gnocchi and a eggs benedict. While in the evening they turn their hand to sourdough pizzas made with a secret family formula, offering toppings such as slow cooked pork, herbed mushrooms and roasted pepper. The husband and wife behind the café, Quintin and Georgina, launched the original location with the idea of it being somewhere for diners to relax and not feel rushed to move on, which becomes very apparent once seated and the laid-back, hipster staff serve you at their own, slow pace. But, the food is so good we'd probably wait all day.
