The Galvin brothers Chris and Jeff's latest effort is this superb restaurant located in a converted Victorian school chapel near Spitalfields, labelled "one of the few truly fabulous-looking restaurants in London" by The Independent. After Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on Baker Street and Galvin at Windows overlooking Hyde Park comes Galvin La Chapelle, a haven of fine French cooking named after the great Hermitage wine. The food is excellent and the helpings hearty. Crab lasagne and roast wood pigeon come strongly recommended, while A.A. Gill praised the tarte tatin for pudding in The Sunday Times. Giles Coran, The Times restaurant critic, is such a big fan he had his wedding reception here, while The Telegraph claims the two brothers "have stuck gold once again" - a sentiment echoed by Tatler magazine, which made La Chapelle its restaurant of the year award for 2010. Three courses without wine comes to around £45 and there is the option of eating at the cheaper, more casual Galvin HOP which shares the splendid building.
