Peter Hughes and Andrea Mantovani, who met at the Michelin starred Wild Honey before going on to open Mele e Pere in Soho, have set up their second restaurant with Gotto Trattoria in Hackney Wick. A seasonal Italian menu is served at the canalside restaurant with dishes like octopus polpette, Surrey farm T-bone steak alla fiorentina and agnolotti - ravioli-like stuffed pasta - with nettles, Cimbro cheese, sage and rosemary. To drink, there's craft beer, wine, cocktails and homemade vermouth while dolci choices to finish with include tart of the day, goat milk ice cream, tiramisu and Italian cheeses. Best of all is the canalside location in the former Olympic park, so you can cycle past the Aquatics Centre and around the Velodrome to build up an appetite.
