The imposing glass fronted tapas bar and Spanish food shop Iberica on Great Portland Street is a great place to share a plate of tapas in a relaxed and riotous atmosphere. There are over fifty hot and cold tapas dishes to choose from including traditional favourites like manchego cheese and Spanish omelette as well as frequently changing chefs specials. So you may find confit duck salad, slow stewed ox tail or white bean stew with chorizo - depending on the season or the ingredients available. There's an incredibly long list of Spanish wines by the glass to accompany your fried chorizo, from favourite Spanish tipples like Cava, Jerez, Rioja and Somontano to less well known wines from Bierzo and Terra Alta. Iberica is a fun place to enjoy tapas and wine sitting up at the 15-metre bar amidst the clatter of platters. For something altogether more refined head to the upmarket restaurant Caleya Iberica upstairs run by Nacho Manzano - a chef already recognised in his native country with the Michelin seal of approval for his Casa Marcial in Asturias, northern Spain.
