Jago, the Shoreditch restaurant with Southern European, Middle Eastern and Ashkenazi influences, is the first solo form Louis Solley who was previously head chef at Ottolenghi in Notting Hill. He has joined up with Hugo Thurston, previously General Manager of Morito in Exmouth Market, to create this all day restaurant where dishes include grilled Challah bread with labneh and house compote; fresh figs, goat's curd, honey, toasted coriander; spiced baked beans and eggs; grilled cauliflower, endive, almonds and sultanas; and cured cucumbers, dill, anchovies, sour cream and sweet paprika. Pickles - including endive, scotch bonnet and naturally, cucumber - can be enjoyed with a glass of Vergano Chinati Bianco or an Alhambra Reserva beer. And at lunch, the pickled cucumbers are served atop gem lettuce and anchovies on toast.
