Ever wanted to try a 'K-slurpy'? That's a cold beer with a frozen top, in case you were wondering. Well, now's your chance. Head to Kojawan, a 'genuinely inauthentic' restaurant high up on the 23rd floor of the Hilton Metropole where K-slurpys are served at the Kirin beer and raw bar, the first in Europe. The iced beer is the ideal drink to go with the food: a mish-mash of soul food from the capitals of Korea, Japan and Taiwan - from the streets of Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei. This melting pot of cultures combines in dishes like rice-sandwiches, glazed-lobster-dog and sesame-seaweed ponzu, popcorn prawns and liquorice-fish sauce, crab-turnip 'egg cake' and crispy Shiso leaf bun on a menu put together by Bjorn Van Der Horst (Greenhouse, La Noisette, Eastside Inn) and Omar Romero who has worked at top London restaurants Rhodes Twenty Four and Rosewood. Pudding is a play on the traditional Eton mess with lychee-green tea meringue and sake cream while manga graphics, videos, and art installations give the space a zany retro-futuristic vibe.
