Pasta is the mainstay on the menu at Kitchen Italia, an affordable, all-day, sleek and contemporary cantina with branches in Covent Garden and Westfield, London. Pasta comes in hundreds of varieties, each originating from specific regions within Italy, so you can choose from chargrilled breast of chicken on a bed of angel hair or sweet sauteed prawns served with fine threads of chitarra pasta. The menu wouldn't be complete without classics like macaroni cheese and spaghetti with meatballs. But there are also some unusual dishes if you're feeling adventurous such as polenta with wild boar ragu and cappelletti with duck. Kitchen Italia is owned by Jamie Barber who also owns and runs Villandry and Hush in Mayfair, he has brought in Michaelis Boyd to do the interiors - the man also responsible for Pizza East, Babington House and Tom's Kitchen. His influence means seating is at long benches with fresh herbs and olive oils on the tables so there's a buzzing, informal atmosphere. Quick, cheap eats in a stylish, relaxed setting - it's no surprise that this place gets packed.Kitchen Italia images
