Tucked away in the backstreets around the Palace of Westminster, the self-explanatory Made In China serves dim sum and other modern Chinese cooking seven days a week in an area not renowned for its wide choice of eateries. The restaurant takes over from the out-going Atami, the slightly pricy minimalist Japanese joint which closed down for obvious reasons. The new incarnation is infinitely better: a large, straight-down-the-line menu covers all bases (noodles, rice dishes, dim sum, meat/fish/veg specials) at reasonable prices and the food is certainly good enough to entice a returning lunch and dinner clientele in an area rich in office workers and public servants. But for the elegant interior inherited from Atami, you'd think you were sampling the better Chinese wares of Gerrard Street. If you're in the area, definitely worth putting your head in - if only for the two-course lunch menu for under £10.
