Made in the Shade, not just the 1975 compilation album by The Rolling Stones but also slang for 'success' back in the '50s, is also a Hoxton bar serving Carribean food that's the brainchild of three cocktail creators, Jeremy Thompson Jewitt, Jim Wrigley, and Peter Lewis, with food by BBC celebrity chef @caribbeancook Patrick William. Food is locally sourced and the tapas style soul food menu - good for sharing with friends - is made with seasonal ingredients. But the drinks are the crowd pulling factor here. Internationally-acclaimed drinksmith Jim Wrigley has been given free rein to create whatever he liked. The results are the refreshing 'Shady Maid Lemonade' with Hendrick's Gin; the long and luscious Buffalo Trace bourbon-based 'Jonson's Reprieve' (with freshly juiced carrot and turmeric); and the 'Thyme is on my side', vodka with fresh squeezed blood orange juice and thyme-infused agave. Special attention is paid to keeping your cocktails cool with "purpose-crafted, millimetre-perfect hand-sawn ice" to keep your drink colder for longer.
