Popping up for twelve months on the site of his Tom's Diner, New Tom's is Tom Conran's latest restaurant serving avant-garde cuisine in a relaxed bistro style setting. Much of the food on a menu which includes white onion soup, Israeli cous cous, and lemon sole goujons is sourced from head chef Tom Straker's family farm in Herefordshire and they even smoke their own salmon. Good quality ingredients are used in the raw and cooked beetroot salad, goats cheese and black olive crumble, there are retro strawberry laces to go with your coffee and fresh juices called 'wake up little Susie' and 'green giant' - a healthy mix of spinach, kale, apple, cucumber, lettuce, lemon and spirulina. Open from 8am, breakfast options include poached hens eggs, avocado, sweet onions and sourdough toast, and slow cooked duck egg mushroom duxelle. Original art works by Hockney, Paolozzi and Caulfield have been lent by Tom's father Sir Terence, there's a series of 1930s Parisian metro booth seats and a Renaissance style mural on the ceiling as well as a lovely decked garden out back. No wonder it's one of Kinvara Balfour's most favourite hangouts.
