The menu at Poco, brought to Broadway Market by author of 'The Natural Cook', Tom Hunt, presents plates of seasonal tapas inspired by Tom's travels, in Spain, Morocco and Latin America. Using organic and seasonal British produce, the provenance of the ingredients is at the heart of Poco, sourced locally from small producers like Dagenham Community Farm, Kappacasein Dairy and Organiclea, a worker's co-operative in Lea Valley. Dishes like courgette fritters with soured raw cream, deep fried oyster with kelp aioli, and Saltmarsh lamb scrag, marjoram, samphire and lavender have been created with help from Henry Russel, former head chef of Moro's sister restaurant Morito. For breakfast there's eggs 'how you like them' on sourdough with homemade harissa or home smoked trout. Cocktails come with homemade tinctures and cordials from foraged ingredients and there's saison beer made from elderflower and Archer hops. It's not just the menu that's ethically sourced, the interior - with its communal tables and al fresco dining area - has been designed using reclaimed timbers, English hardwoods and clay based paints.
