After Polpo comes Polpette, "a tiny jewel-box version" of Beak Street's popular Venetian-inspired restaurant, proving that small can indeed be very beautiful. Located above the iconic French House pub in Dean Street, the intimate Polpo has just 28 seats and cannot cater for groups larger than four. The menu consists of cicheti, small plates of classic Venetian osteria dishes such as Cuttlefish in its ink, anchovy and chickpea crostino, melanzane parmigiana, pizzetta Bianca, pigeon saltimbocca and Venetian-style soft-shell crab in Parmesan batter. The wine list features northern Italian wines from small producers, while desserts include pannacotta with blackberries and biscotti and sgroppino, a liquid desert made by blending lemon sorbet and prosecco. Reservations are only taken for lunch - dinner is first come first served.Polpetto images
