A Harlem institution that boasts Paul McCartney and the Obamas as some of its fans, Red Rooster comes to London in 2017. Chef Marcus Samuelsson, who was born in Ethiopia and raised in Sweden before moving to New York, will bring his signature fried chicken, jerk catfish, shrimp and grits, and steak with cornbread to Shoreditch with the restaurant opening inside hip new hotel The Curtain. New dishes created especially for London take influences from both Ethiopia and Sweden, with options such as raw minced duck kitfo and herring with brown butter, horseradish, fermented rice and pickled turnips. The food comes with a side serving of soul and jazz with live music five nights a week as well as gospel brunches.
