Taking his Salon next door, chef Nicholas Balfe reopens his Brixton restaurant in September 2017 with a beautiful new design, brand new ground floor bar and a wine store. The upstairs dining room, decked out in marine blue and lined with banquette seating, is the place to enjoy whole baked aubergine with smoked almond cream, preserved blackberries and rainbow chard, tomato with black garlic home grown basil, and Brixton fig leaf ice cream with Wye Valley blueberries and damson syrup. Concertina windows in the bar downstairs open out onto buzzing Brixton Market while open shelves, displaying syrups, preserves and other house-made goods available to buy, line the staircase. Buy a bottle at the Salon Wine Store next door - well stocked with low intervention, artisan wines - and bring it into the restaurant for a small corkage fee. Sip while you share dishes of 'nduja croquettes with aioli and slow cooked rabbit ragu.
