Overlooking Hammersmith Bridge and next to the redeveloped Riverside Studios, Sam's Riverside is a glamorous all-day brasserie serving classic, modern European food. Sam Harrison, who previously ran Sam's Brasserie in nearby Chiswick, has brought in Rowley Leigh as culinary director to help develop the menu. Harvey Trollope, who has previously worked at The Ritz with John Williams and at Wheelers with Marco Pierre White, is head chef, creating beautifully presented cured scallops, oysters, beer glazed onion tart, rib eye steak from HG Walter and buttermilk pudding with thyme shortbread. The 90-seat restaurant - about the same size at Sam's in Chiswick - has an interior by DesignLSM which is informal but glamorous with a cocktail bar, a stunning mural by Tomo Campbell and large windows which let the light flood in. Capitalising on its riverside location, next summer the restaurant will have an outdoor terrace with space for up to forty outside.
