It's easy to pinpoint Sticks'n'Sushi in Soho. Look for the building on the corner of Beak Street with iridescent glazed sea blue-green bricks and you've come to the right place for sushi and grilled yakitori sticks with a Nordic twist. The distinctive building, designed by architecture studio Stiff + Trevillion, is also the London headquarters of British artist Damien Hirst who has his flagship studio and art complex on the floors directly above. At the two-storey restaurant on the ground floor and basement floors, signature dishes include the Hell's Kitchen maki with bubbly tempura shrimp and Japanese barbeque sauce and yakitori skewers including the Buta Yaki with organic, free-range pork from Denmark. Drawing on Sticks'n'Sushi's Danish-Japanese heritage, the warm and welcoming restaurant is furnished with softly hanging partitions inspired by Japanese Noren curtains, combined with Danish Hygge, a distinct feeling of cosiness that permeates throughout.
