Part of the redevelopment of Riverside Studios, rebuilt from the ground up over five years, Studio 8 Cafe and Bar is at the heart of the west London arts hub. With views over the River Thames and Hammersmith Bridge, the cafe is located at the building's main entrance alongside a naturally-lit atrium and art gallery. The beautiful, open-plan space allows visitors to enjoy a menu put together by head chef Alistair Goodall who has experience working at Muriel's Kitchen and Elan. Catering for everything from a pre-show dinner to sharing plates, weekend brunch or casual coffee, the menu includes seared scallops and za'atar hummus flatbread, brunch options like avocado and edamame bean smash and wild mushroom breakfast bruschetta, as well as smaller bites of charred padron peppers, sweet potato fries and Korean fried chicken. Contemporary takes on old favourites such as fish and chips and a handmade burger give a nod to Riverside's original cafe. Draught beer from micro-brewery Meantime, a glass of chilled Prosecco or Champagne, an extensive wine list and soft drinks go well with the food on offer. Coffee and cake are served from 8am daily, alongside freshly made sandwiches, soups, wraps and salad bowls for a quick pick-me-up. With its terrace overlooking the Thames, the cafe and bar provides a ringside seat on Boat Race day and is a hugely popular spot - so get there early if you want to secure a space.
