Nestled in a busy residential area between Kensington Olympia and Shepherd's Bush is The Bird in Hand, a newly renovated Italian restaurant and bar that serves rustic, simple dishes. The décor is inviting with its wooden flooring, walls and chairs, plus sofas and low hanging lampshades. Previously a gastropub, the restaurant now only serves a small selection of beers but offers a wide variety of European wines, unusual spirits and after dinner drinks. The food menu includes a small range of pasta dishes, a decent offering of meat and vegetarian dishes, and a generous serving of pizzas with high quality toppings such as truffle oil and Tuscan sausage. Desserts are indulgent with chocolate roulade, pannacotta and, of course, tiramsu among the options. The restaurant also has a private room on the first floor which can seat up to 18 guests.
