A ballsy move from street food entrepreneur Jez Felwick, The Bowler puts meatballs on the main stage, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Set up with backing from Polpo founders Russell Norman and Richard Beatty, The Bowler is the big brother to 'The Lawn Ranger', the van from where Jez sold his meatballs at festivals and street-food markets. At this Monmouth Street site there's The Fast Bowler - a lunchtime fast-track hatch - and you can get healthy sides, craft beers and soft drinks as well as meatballs in a handmade pitta. Breakfast includes coffee and pastries alongside early morning heart-starters like the brunch Bowler, smokin' bacon balls, and baked rosti and beans. From 11am choices includes a 'Ball Box' atop a salad or side, beef chuck, chorizo and cheddar, and there's even a vegetarian 'Balafal'. Sides and snacks list houmous and pitta, homemade slaw or Bowler salads and there are craft beers from Beavertown and The Wild Beer Company, relying on suppliers who Jez has met during his days on the streetfood scene. Interiors are made using reclaimed materials and wooden bench seating invites outdoor dining.
