The Clerk & Well in the heart of EC1 may look like a pub and it certainly has a relaxed ambiance but it goes beyond the usual beer and pork scratching offering with a tempting Thai menu. And its pedigree is above average too with backing from the First Restaurant Group which also runs The Running Horse, The Waterway and Notting Hill Brasserie and bar. The menu includes starters of steamed edamame with sea salt, seasonal vegetable spring rolls serverd with sweet chilli sauce, and chicken satay skewers with lemongrass and peanut sauce. Mains are a mix of wok tossed chicken with mixed peppers and soy, aromatic roast duck served with pancakes, and sizzling tiger prawns.
