Visitor Information
The prices are cheap and the portions enormous at The Wick Cafe, a long-standing local institution in Hackney Wick which serves all day English breakfast. A greasy spoon cafe, it caters for local art-y types and tradesmen alike, all of whom come here to enjoy the burgers, lasagne, kebabs and jacket potatoes piled with cheese. All are served with chips, beans and fresh side salad and you can opt to have rice instead of chips. Apple pie and jam roly-poly served with thick custard are washed down with a glass of milk or builders' tea. Despite the changes in the area - The Wick is no longer one of the few cafes where you can sit down to eat - the cafe is still well supported by the locals and regulars.
