A small, curiously-shaped restaurant tucked away in the heart of Marylebone, Verru offers Londoners a chance to sample the flavours of the Baltic. Courtesy of Estonian owner and chef Andrei Lesment, Verru has a daily changing menu and uses ingredients of northern provenance to create a unique Baltic-French collaboration. With dishes such as Icelandic cod, venison meatballs and grilled rib of beef with roast shallots at the forefront of the menu, the variety in influences is clear to see. The exposed brick walls and engraved mirrors give the interior a simple yet classy design and the clever use of mirrors opens up space - crucial for a restaurant of this modest size. A strong French wine and whiskey selection is sure to please also.
