Yum bun is expected to open in March 2013.
What started out as an East London market stall selling pork filled steamed buns is now expanding to a bricks and mortar shop near Old Street roundabout. Lisa Meyer and Jake first set up their steamed buns stalls at Broadway Market Schoolyard in September 2010 and, two years on, they have developed something of a cult following winning accolades from top chefs (Viajante's Michelin-starred chef Nuno Mendes is a fan) and awards - including 'People's Choice' and 'Best Snack' at the 2012 British Street Food Awards. The judges commented on the "extraordinary" pillowy, steamed Yum Buns, stuffed with rich, salty pork. Sample their slowly roasted free range Blythburgh belly pork with spring onions and cucumbers, hoisin sauce and shriracha or opt for their delicious veggie bun with its juicy Portabello mushroom, toasted walnuts and miso glaze. Yum.
