You get a choice of four Italian 48-hour slow fermented doughs at Zia Lucia , a rather special pizza place in Islington inspired and named after Auntie Lucia: a warm, generous host whose recipes and hospitality have been brought from Rome to London by founders, friends and Holloway residents, Claudio Vescovo and Gianluca D'Angelo. Take traditional flour dough, healthy wholemeal, gluten free or the unusual vegetable charcoal black base and top with pecorino cheese, truffle honey, asparagus, spicy orange sauce and toasted almonds - just some of the more unusual toppings. Run by a team of family, friends and locals, Italians who are passionate about pizza, Zia Lucia's general manager Alessio is a well-known figure in the local neighbourhood, having lived and worked on Holloway Road for over 20 years. With a capacity of 46 and an outside seating area for 10, customers can see into the open kitchen while enjoying pizzas, negronis, bottled beers - from Italy but locally brewed in London - as well as wine and prosecco sourced from small Italian producers back home.
