Injecting a bit of Americana into the Antipodean underworld of Earls Court is Miss Q's, a new pool bar, diner and live music venue launching late this October. Potentially worryingly for a pool bar - especially one that boasts a 430 capacity - there are only three tables - although the people behind Miss Q's seem to think they can divert attention from this by placing each table atop a striking Persian rug. Indeed, there seems to be no sense behind this gimmick other than justifying the laborious catchphrase "Sex, Rugs and Rock 'n' Roll" (sigh). Surrounding the pool tables, the dimly-lit venue is flanked by American diner booths where you can feast on classics such as burgers, ribs and milkshakes. A lounge bar, live music saloon, low stage, DJ booth, underlit dancefloor, retro pinball machine, seven plasma screens for sports events and gallery space housing iconic photographs of rock 'n' rolls finest complete the impressive set up. It's way too early to give a verdict on this underground den on the Earls Court Road. That said, Miss Q's clearly aims at being the All Star Lanes of pool but could you imagine the latter surviving with just three bowling lanes?
