Tea is a time honoured tradition and Yumchaa owners Trinh Huang and her partner Sean believe a good cuppa is one that affords you a little 'me' time. This Soho cafe is the second of their tea salons, following on from the success of their first shop in Camden which overlooks the lock. If you're in Soho, marching up the busy Berwick Street, with its market and famous fabric shops, Yumchaa is the ideal place to take time out for a cuppa. But don't expect any tea bags here; Trinh and Sean are resolutely anti-bagging (tea bags allow the tannins not the taste to flood out) and all the tea sold here is made from their own blends. The Yumchaa in Soho offers a slightly different atmosphere to their original cafe in Camden with the large shop taking up two floors. There's a more extensive kitchen with ovens and grills allowing for a wider range of food. Teas are complemented by a menu of favourite cakes and scones, soups and lunch-in-a-box choices supplied by Upbox. This is a wonderful way to celebrate loose leaf tea, and it's open all day from breakfast to tea and cake breaks.
