The English National Ballet, founded by Alicia Markova and Anton Dolin in 1950, moved into its current purpose-built East London home on London City Island in Canning Town in 2019. The 93,000 square foot space houses a production studio with fly tower, seven full-sized studios, state-of-the-art wardrobe and medical facilities - including a hydrotherapy pool - and public spaces. As one of the leading ballet companies in the world, the English National Ballet is well known for its classical repertoire and touring productions. In addition to providing rehearsal and performance spaces for professional dancers, English National Ballet works with amateurs of all ages. The building houses dedicated engagement and learning spaces where local community groups and young members of ENBYouthCo have lessons. The dance company works with all levels of dancer, from young to old and provides tuition for a Parkinson's programme as well as Dancing East, a programme of weekly ballet classes for over 50s.
