Head to Hackney Wick for a six-week programme of waterside cinema, performance and theatre at the most unlikeliest of venues. Springing up in the small gap between the east and westbound lanes of the A12, the handmade Folly for a Flyover sits on the edge of the Lea Navigation Canal and draws influence from the surrounding red-brick buildings of Hackney. Built from local, reclaimed and donated materials, and giving the impression of being trapped under the passing motorway, by day the Folly will host a cafe, workshops, events and boat trips exploring the surrounding walkways. At night, a series of events will transform the space - from experimental cinema to light shows, live music to classic animations (tickets all ?4). Built over a month and alive for just six weeks this summer (Fri-Sun), once its run comes to an end in late July, the Folly will be dismantled, its various components going on to find a new home in the surrounding area. The Folly can be accessed by foot or bicycle along the towpath or from the Eastway, or by overground to Hackney Wick. For more information see www.follyforaflyover.co.uk.Folly for a Flyover images
