Visitor Information
Founded by Peter Oliver (1926-2007), the Oval House has been an important part of fringe and experimental theatre since the 1960s. It has been supportive of gay and lesbian and women's theatre in the 1970's and 80's and the development of new Black and Asian writing in the '90s. It's also where Pierce Brosnan first started out, attending workshops while working as a waiter during the day. The theatre includes a gallery space, open to all, and a cafe open 6pm to 11pm Tuesday to Saturday serving world fusion food.
