Rose Theatre Kingston
Nearby Rose Theatre Kingston

The Rose Theatre, Kingston is an 850 seat venue ideally suited to Shakespeare which opened in 2008 in the centre of Kingston Upon Thames. The design of the auditorium took its inspiration from the Rose Theatre, an Elizabethan structure situated on London's Bankside. The Kingston copy has the same lozenge shaped stage, semi-circular seating plan and a pit area where audiences can sit on cushions to watch performances. Peter Hall, who founded both the RSC and the National Theatre, and director and producer Stephen Unwin (founder of the English Touring Theatre) set up the Rose Theatre with Peter Hall directing 'Uncle Vanya' for the opening season of the Rose Theatre on 16th January 2008 - the first time he had staged Chekhov's play since 1950.Rose Theatre Kingston events
