The Roxy Bar and Screen on Borough High Street is an independent cinema which hosts monthly VJ/DJ nights and has a Popcorn Comedy night as well as regularly screening mainstream and experimental films. There's capacity for approximately 200 with seating for around 120 on a first-come first-served basis, so arrive early if you want a sofa. Otherwise, simply turn up and grab a chair or table - none of the screenings require tickets. The digital projector beams onto a 4m wide cinema screen backed up by a pro-theatre surround sound system. Screenings take place in the back area of the Roxy and food and drink are available throughout all screenings which take place Sunday to Wednesday. The menu makes the most of the venue's close proximity to Borough Market and dishes include ingredients like Franconian Sausages, fruit and veg from Elsey & Bent and fish and venison from Furness. Recent release screenings generally have a ?3 cover charge, most others are free or ?3 for double or treble-bills and all public screenings are over-18s only.
