From the people behind Paradise by Way of Kensal Green comes The Blues Kitchen, the latest addition to Camden's thriving music/bar scene. Open until late every night and until 3am at weekends, The Blues Kitchen offers a superb selection of live Rhythm and Blues, a tasty menu of authentic home-cooked soul food (think crab cakes with fries, BBQ chicken, Cajun tuna, pancakes and pies and thick milk shakes) and one of London's most extensive lists of Bourbon. As a bona fide Blues venue it may not carry the same clout as Charlotte St Blues a few stops south on the Northern Line, but it is proving a popular spot for drinkers not hostile to the idea of background crooning. It's early days, and the big Blues acts will certainly come - just as top Jazz musicians flock to the nearby, rather insalubrious yet classic, Jazz Cafe. It remains to be seen how audiences accept musical contributions from customers though - could this be going down the painful karaoke road? - but The Blues Kitchen is an exciting place with endless possibilities. Definitely one to try.The Blues Kitchen events
