Bill Bailey, Jimmy Carr and Robin Williams have all performed at this Kingston club, voted fourth best comedy club by The Guardian. Outside the Box run comedy nights in seven different venues on the outskirts of London and further afar, with nights at the flagship Kingston venue taking place in the backroom of The Fighting Cocks pub the most central (others are at Hampton Hill, Sevenoaks, Sonning, Surbiton, West Molesey and Windsor). Founded in 2006 by frizzy-haired comedian Maff Brown, Inside the Box was created to be the comedy club that everyone wanted to go to and every comedian wanted to play. Six months after opening its doors, Outside the Box won Chortle's Best Small Venue award and is still going strong today, blending big-name acts alongside less recognisable faces and up-and-coming acts. Star comedians often come to Kingston to try out material ahead of major tours and TV shows. More recent performers include the wonderfully deadpan anti-comic Edward Aczel and the sketch trio Wit Tank. Tickets cost £7 with the weekly Monday night shows starting at 8pm.
