- Visitor Information
London's first fully-functioning theatre made entirely from recycled and reclaimed materials was constructed over the summer of 2010 and will be open from late August through to early October showing a couple of eco-themed plays. The Jellyfish Theatre, which stands in a south London playground, 10 minutes' walk from the Globe theatre on the banks of the Thames, is the idea of the Red Room film and theatre company and was showcased as part of the London Festival of Architecture in July. Seating 120, the theatre has been constructed using materials from all sources: rusty old nails, Covent Garden market pallets, discarded doors, reclaimed timber from building sites, redundant school furniture, old kitchen units donated by the public, junked theatre sets.
