Well known in the States for their stylish hotels, this is the first NoMad outside America. A partnership between Sydell Group and investment firm BTC, the NoMad London takes up residence in the historic, grade II-listed Bow Street Magistrates' Court and Police Station from summer 2020. Opposite the Royal Opera House, in the heart of Covent Garden, the 19th century building has been transformed into a 91 room hotel with much of the original architectural features preserved and woven into design. The building's original Magistrates' Courtroom has been reimagined as a space for private events and gatherings while a museum with rotating exhibitions reveals the history of the Metropolitan Police Force. A collaboration with New York-based interior design firm Roman and Williams, the design means "most bedrooms have soaring ceiling heights... softened with a theatrical drop of heavy textile curtains" (Wallpaper) while wallhangings have been sourced from both New York and London. Public areas include a casual 'booth food' restaurant, a signature library space and a 100-capacity function room in the former courtroom as well as a basement lounge bar in the old coal vaults. As with existing NoMads, all food will be directed by restaurateur Will Guidara and Michelin-starred chef Daniel Humm of three Michelin-starred Eleven Madison Park in New York who are also responsible for Claridge's main restaurant.
