Once part of Epping Forest, Christchurch Green in Wanstead is a popular place to walk dogs and enjoy sports. The medieval church after which the green is named still stands within the grounds of the open space and is still widely attended. It also has a large play area which is popular with families especially at weekends and in the summer months. There is also a festival, organised by Redbridge Council, which is held on the green once a year, usually in September.
