Nothing gets the blood flowing like the sheer adrenaline of a reckless gamble. Old hands will talk all night about systems for backing the right greyhound, but the best way to win here is to treat the night as a bit of fun. Walthamstow is the capital’s premier greyhound track, and every Saturday the stands will be packed with well dressed characters shouting their encouragement to the beautiful dogs.
Greyhound racing is a tremendously atmospheric sport. You can marvel at the grace of the animals, study the huge bets of the high rollers for inspiration, have a gamble on the Tote or be entertained by the cockney banter of the Tic Tac bookies. Whatever you do, the races will grip you and a night at the dogs will leave you panting for more. There’s even a disco afterwards where you can blow all your winnings.
PLEASE NOTE: The stadium has now been sold. Last race night: August 16th 2008. |
