Upstairs, there's a very standard East London drinking spot, with shabby-chic decor, and reasonable tapas and cocktails. Downstairs is where the real action is, with a basement venue populated by a mixture of fashionistas, high functioning drug addicts, and other eccentric members of Shoreditch's late night community. The 54 brings in some good DJs, and has the major bonus of practically never closing, so you can always get in here after your night out for a drink, a dance and an admiring glance at the nocturnal denizens of East London's nightlife.
