Located in the Mayfair site of the former Burlington Club, Baroque is an improvement on its predecessor but still leaves a lot to be desired. No longer a member's club, Baroque's snazzy interiors and hefty prices might still make you think you're sharing the experience with an elite. It could easily be called Mock Baroque, what with its over-the-top red upholstery, garish artwork, black chandeliers and gold trimmed furniture and mirrors. It's one of those places (there are many in Mayfair) where you pay something like ?500 for a bottle of vodka to share between 10 people - about as good a deal on paper as selling a kidney for a tenner. That said, the bar list does include a few tasty cocktails for under ?10 although anyone with common tastes for beer will have to settle for bottled Michelob, the only lager on offer. Played out over two floors, music can best be described as funky house, with an urban / RnB edge. Expect your usual spatterings of professional footballers out on the razz and wannabe Wags / former Big Brother housemates. Baroque is also used for quite a few media industry bashes and caters for the professional clientele around Mayfair, namely hedge fund big wigs.Location map of Baroque
