The name The Duke of York conjures up the image of a traditional British pub, replete with groggy locals, dark wood panelling and plenty of nooks and crannies. But, this couldn’t be further from the truth. As you step over the threshold, it’s like entering Aladdin’s cave, a full-on Moroccan interior greets you.
The food is along the same lines as the décor. The menu packs a delicious combination of contemporary Moroccan and French cuisine, all freshly prepared on the premises. At weekends they serve up a mean breakfast, ideal for refuelling after a night on the tiles. As well as all the usual bar basics, they sell a selection of delectable Belgian beers and friendly bar staff can whip up a terrific cocktail on request.
The Duke of York is a modern revelation emerging from the shell of an exhausted veteran. A fine example of meaningful progress.
