From the people behind the stylish members club Eight Bank EC3 comes this second venture in the City. Where the flagship Eight offered a secret subterranean hideaway, Eight Moorgate EC2 towers above the surrounding streets, offering breathtaking 360 degree panoramic views over London's skyline. Accessed through a glass lift discreetly hidden away on Dysart Street, Eight Moorgate EC2 is constructed entirely from glass and spans over 9,000 square feet, and offers a restaurant, members bar and lounge, exterior smoking lounge and an on-site bespoke tailor. The PR bumf says the outdoor area will be an "unparalleled al fresco spot for summer" with "barbeques, spit roasts and live jazz" - an intriguing prospect which conjures up images of Eyes Wide Shut. The club's 90-cover dining room will serve international and contemporary cuisine (breakfast and an all-day menu) rustled up by acclaimed chefs who have worked alongside Tom Aikens and Bill Granger. The Eight Martini, a refreshing mix of apricot liqueur, fresh orange juice, potato vodka and orange marmalade, stars at the main bar, while a wood panelled library will be a welcome refuge in the winter months with its roaring wood fire. All of this comes at a cost, of course; to be precise: ?800 plus ?77 VAT each month.
