A refurbished venue in Shoreditch, the George & Dragon mixes East End earthiness with hip, Hoxton bohemia and the result is a relaxed mix of 70s / 80s retro with a down-to-earth decor. A CD juke box and a DJ in the evenings provide a lively, yet comfortable feel. It's not the largest of bars - if it was a piece of real estate, it would be described as 'intimate' - but the relative lack of space only serves to reinforce the warm, convivial atmosphere and this remains one of the more alternative nights out in Shoreditch, a part of town where alternativeness is the norm.
